Health Care & Health Insurance

About the committee

The Health Systems/Health Insurance committee combines public health, policy, as well as clinical expertise to examine issues related to health insurance access under the current administration. Amid budget negotiations, this group has compiled data on political vulnerability and Medicaid reliance by state and congressional district to assist with targeting outreach efforts. Additional issues that the committee addresses include, but are not limited to, the security of the Affordable Care Act, advocating for administrative burden reduction efforts in insurance (especially amid renewed efforts to adopt Medicaid work requirements), and assessing the challenges associated with accelerating America’s reliance on Medicare Advantage. The group is approaching these subjects through a combination of data collection, policy analysis, and mobilization of phone calls and op-ed writing.
